With the river gauge at Hancock topping off at 10.5 feet, my plans for a kayak trip on the Potomac were postponed this weekend. Fortunately, the temperature was a bit cooler so I had some time to catch up on some yard work. The heavy rains always cause some havoc on tree limbs, but when those tree limbs fall across the C&O Canal that can cause some difficulty with bikers on their way to and from Hancock. Many thanks to Town Manager, David Smith, for using his own time to remove a large tree across the trial just west of Town. The Park Service had estimated that it would be several days until this would be addressed. Last week I travelled to Frostburg to play in a golf tournament for Delegate Jason Buckel (District 1B). Although we are in District 1C, my experience in Annapolis this past session has shown the importance of developing relationships with our neighbors both to the west and east. I had the opportunity to talk to Delegate Buckel, Delegate Folden ( 3B –Frederick County) as well as our own Delegate Mike McKay and State Senator George Edwards.
