Scarecrows of Hancock Contest

Come Join Hancock In Motion, in decorating the Town of Hancock for the Fall Season. Hancock In Motion is sponsoring our annual Scarecrow Contest, called “Scarecrows of Hancock”. The idea is to get Individual’s, Businesses, Organization’s Churches, Schools, etc; to become involved in decorating the town. Each Scarecrow that is made, will be hung on a Light Pole or Tree on Main Street to decorate the down-town area. You do NOT have to be a Town Limits resident or business to participate. All the instructions and guidelines that you must follow are included below, however Forms are available at Town Hall Office on High Street . Hancock In Motion will get a panel of 3 judges to judge the scarecrows on the day they are displayed. Prizes awarded for: 1.) The Cutest 2.) Unique (different) 3.) Judges Choice (the popular vote of the 3 ) 4.) Prettiest Prizes of $25.00 each will be sent out by mail No later than Fri. October 30, 2015 RULES: • Scarecrow Drop off is : SaturdaySept. 26 Between 10:00 am – 10:30 a.m. In the parking lot of the Hancock Community Center at 126 w. High Street. • If you want your scarecrow back, they may be picked up on Saturday, October 24th between 10:00a.m. – 10:30a.m. in the Hancock Community Center Parking lot, or you may remove it yourself that morning. All Scarecrows left after 11:00a.m. will be disposed of. Hancock In Motion is NOT responsible for Any loss, stolen or damaged scarecrows. • Hancock In Motion reserves the right to remove any scarecrow that deteriorates to an unacceptable level during the month, including parts pulled off. Please make sure your entry is weatherproof and indestructible as possible. You can spray Scotch-guard inside and out of clothes to prevent mildew. • Do NOT attach any signage . HancockInMotion will provide signage identifying your name, business or organization. We also will determine the light pole or location for each one. The Scarecrows must be suitable to all. They can not reflect controversial political or social subject material. No vulgar language, etc. Hancock In Motion reserves the right to revoke an entry if rules are not followed. NEW RULE: ALL entries must have Straw or Hay on them somewhere like a scarecrow would have!! Judging will take place on Saturday, Sept. 26th at 1:00p.m. Winners will be contacted and results published in the Hancock News and on our Hancock In Motion Facebook page. Tips: Make Scarecrows Stand Out. Small details get lost outdoors. Stuffing can be made from any materials: Plastic Bags and Bubble Wrap and Newspapers INSIDE of Plastic Bags work the best. Nylon and Polyester fabrics hold up the best. Ideas for Hair and Head: Stuffed Pillow Cases, Gourds, Yard Brooms, Shredded Plastic Moss, Raffia or old mops. Have Fun and Lets Decorate Hancock!!!
